Genotyping tadpoles

Sometimes we breed our own frogs in the lab and are interested in segregating the animals based on gender.  To do this, we wait until the tails begin to resorb during metamorphosis and we isolate individual animals in plastic cups and perform PCR on tiny tail snips using a primer pair that allows us to distinguish between male and female animals.
